Leah completely enlivened two drab and dull common spaces in our school with her bright, nature-celebrating murals. She invited input from staff and students and incorporated these into her final designs. Her workshops with our middle school students were also very well received, and the students loved having an artist of her calibre be so generous with her knowledge and encouragement.
— Daniel Hamilton - Principal of Sunrise Christian School Whyalla
Working with Leah was a hugely rewarding experience. She worked closely with us to design and install a mural and students were so proud to see their work incorporated into the design. As a teacher the opportunity to help paint the mural taught me so much about working with aerosols and I am continuing to learn from Leah through workshops and Professional Development. Leah brings professionalism and passion to every part of a project. She understands the power of creativity and values the contribution of every student. I highly recommend Leah if you are looking to work with an artist.

I think schools need more pieces of beautiful art on clear display. These kinds of ‘artefacts’ are telling the school community what is valued and helps to promote art to the students. Sports trophies are always on display, but I feel we need more things that inspire children who have other passions too. It has been a pleasure working with Leah. From the very first contact all the way through to the completion of the project, I have found Leah to be attentive to our needs while, at the same time, bringing something unique and creative to the project. The mural has completely changed the space and brings a sense of fun and excitement to what was otherwise quite a ‘vanilla’ entrance.

Behind The News - Featuring Leah Grant

My fifth-grade students in South Korea were overjoyed to have Leah as a special virtual guest. Leah prepared interesting information about her materials as well as samples of her artwork for students to see before beginning our Q&A session. It was immediately clear that she has ample experience working with students from her active engagement with our learners, kind responses to a range of questions, and encouragement with students’ enthusiasm with meeting an artist. Hearing about her processes for creating murals and how she has grown as an artist over time helped students understand a different side of art from what they are used to experiencing. I would highly recommend Leah for an enriching, inviting conversation about community art with learners of all ages.
— Teacher Nicole Morissette - Daegu International School South Korea
We were very lucky to have Leah as a virtual guest during our Year 10 Art class. The students have been studying Street Art and they are about to begin making their own designs. They loved hearing from a real street artist, and learning spray painting techniques. Soon they will try some of these in their own work. Hearing about Leah’s art making process has given my year 10’s lots of inspiration! Thank you so much Leah!

Our Year 11 Art students are currently studying ways Street Art can create ‘change’. Leah’s visit included an interactive talk about her practice, ethics, challenges and personal art style. Her engaging and open approach encouraged students to ask questions and gain a strong understanding of the topic. Leah led the students through practical exercises with aerosol paint to create gradients, lines, drips and simple stencils. The students loved every second and are motivated to keep creating in ways that can impact others.

Leah is absolute dream artist to host at a school. Her teaching background combined with her experience as a street artist puts her in a unique position that is rare to find with an artist facilitating workshops in school. She relates so well to students and is able to effectively tailor the content and delivery for the age group and specific group of students. Her the teaching knowledge helps the sessions run seamlessly as she is innately aware of what activities works and what doesn’t with different age groups. We were so lucky to host Leah at St Peter’s Woodlands to work with our Year 6s to create a permanent public artwork on an external fence at our school. Students brainstormed a concept for the artwork on the theme of community. Following this Leah collated their work, to create 3 potential concepts. Students voted for their favourite and learnt how to install the mural on a corrugated surface. The support that Leah gave me throughout the whole process was amazing. From ideas to give as prompts for the students, to tips about writing the grant to secure funding for the project. The whole experience was amazing for myself and the students. Thank you Leah!
