Residencies may include:

  • Student Workshop

  • Mural concept design with students

  • Mural Installation

  • Artist Talk

  • Art Teacher Professional Development

Leah completely enlivened two drab and dull common spaces in our school with her bright, nature-celebrating murals. She invited input from staff and students and incorporated these into her final designs. Her workshops with our middle school students were also very well received, and the students loved having an artist of her calibre be so generous with her knowledge and encouragement.

Working with Leah was a hugely rewarding experience. She worked closely with us to design and install a mural and students were so proud to see their work incorporated into the design. As a teacher the opportunity to help paint the mural taught me so much about working with aerosols and I am continuing to learn from Leah through workshops and Professional Development. Leah brings professionalism and passion to every part of a project. She understands the power of creativity and values the contribution of every student. I highly recommend Leah if you are looking to work with an artist.

I think schools need more pieces of beautiful art on clear display. These kinds of ‘artefacts’ are telling the school community what is valued and helps to promote art to the students. Sports trophies are always on display, but I feel we need more things that inspire children who have other passions too. It has been a pleasure working with Leah. From the very first contact all the way through to the completion of the project, I have found Leah to be attentive to our needs while, at the same time, bringing something unique and creative to the project. The mural has completely changed the space and brings a sense of fun and excitement to what was otherwise quite a ‘vanilla’ entrance.

Behind The News - Featuring Leah Grant

My fifth-grade students in South Korea were overjoyed to have Leah as a special virtual guest. Leah prepared interesting information about her materials as well as samples of her artwork for students to see before beginning our Q&A session. It was immediately clear that she has ample experience working with students from her active engagement with our learners, kind responses to a range of questions, and encouragement with students’ enthusiasm with meeting an artist. Hearing about her processes for creating murals and how she has grown as an artist over time helped students understand a different side of art from what they are used to experiencing. I would highly recommend Leah for an enriching, inviting conversation about community art with learners of all ages.
