Geelong Lutheran College in Armstrong Creek was the perfect spot for a nature inspired mural.
With a new garden bed being developed along a bessar block wall, it felt like the perfect time to paint a mural before the planting began. The grounds team is designing the garden to sit alongside the artwork, so the mural and garden can grow together and feel like one connected space.
I carefully selected the colour palette to reflect and complement the surrounding buildings, playground, and nearby soccer pitch. With such a wide range of materials, textures, and colours already present in this area, it was important that the mural didn’t add visual clutter. Instead, the aim was to bring a sense of unity to the space and create a gentle focal point as families and students enter the school through the parent gate.
As the garden continues to develop, the mural will evolve alongside it. I already love how the existing tree is growing behind the wall.
Thank you to Principal Sue Ellis for the opportunity to add a mural to the Geelong Lutheran College campus. A big thank you also to Lauren Povey (STEM Teacher) for reaching out and helping bring this project to life.
“The most valuable aspect of the project was how it brought creativity and colour into a space that was previously very plain. The mural added visual interest and warmth, making the area feel more inviting and inspiring for students and staff.
Leah prepared thoughtful plans and collaborated with our principal to finalise the design. Throughout the process she was approachable, flexible, and easy to work with. Everyone was thrilled with the final result.
The mural exceeded our expectations. The mural itself is beautiful and the staff response has been overwhelmingly positive. ”
